Steve Miller, DPM, ACFAS

Recruiting Volunteers: Discerning the Missionary Heart

Team Leader of over 40 medical/surgical missions.

Lives in Anacortes, Washington.

Member of the Fidalgo Island Rotary Club – twice president of the Anacortes Rotary Club.

He is a retired podiatrist – spent 24 years in private practice locally and 5 years in an orthopedic surgery group practice.

He attended podiatric medical school at Temple University, and after a one-year residency in Seattle, he completed 2 more years of residency training in reconstructive foot/ankle/leg surgery in Atlanta, where his residency program is now part of Emory University Health Care.

Dr. Miller's interests and subspecialty are foot/ankle/leg surgery, especially neglected clubfoot, and medical missions as well as other humanitarian work.

Since 1999, he has participated in over 50 medical/surgical missions, with at least 40 as Team Leader.

Host countries include: Guatemala, El Salvador, Venezuela, Ecuador, Honduras, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Vietnam, Indonesia & Nepal.

Reed Kindermann, MD

Focus on Possibility: Delivering Global Eye Care

Dr. Reed Kindermann is a world traveled ophthalmologist, extraordinary humanitarian as well as a global volunteer educator. He began his mission career in 1980 in Pago Pago, where he was hooked by the concept of delivering the incomparable gift of sight to less fortunate people in need. Now, almost fifty years later, he still devotes weeks every year to his mission journeys.

Although he now frequently travels to Namibia on his way from the South Pacific to Africa, Reed has also traveled to and worked in Haiti, Guatemala, Cambodia, Georgia three times, Western Samoa, Mongolia, Syria, among others. He has worked with many government-sponsored programs as well as Orbis and SEE International.

Reed’s gift to you is a PDF of information on SEE International and the tremendous scope of influence they have around the world, as well as a short video on the delicacy of eye surgery.

Austin Johnson

“Ghana Make a Difference”…Medical Missions in Ghana

After dropping out of college, Austin met his wife in Ghana, Africa. Later, Austin went back to college and eventually received a Masters Degree in Nonprofit Administration from the University of Notre Dame.

For over a decade Austin has been involved in helping vulnerable children in Ghana. Austin Johnson lives in Idaho with his wife, Arianne, and his three kids. Austin is the sole (domestic) employee of Ghana Make a Difference.

When Arianne and Austin aren’t thinking up a way to better help the children in Ghana, they enjoy local and international adventures.
